PassGen – Utility to Generate Properly Strong Passwords
Believe it or not, but studies and surveys have shown that most computer users use the same password over and over again. This can spell trouble for the user – if one account is compromised because the user fell victim to a phishing attack, then all other accounts that use the same password are exposed. From a security point of view it is advisable to not reuse passwords.
It is advisable to use different passwords for different accounts. The passwords you choose must be strong enough to prevent a person with malicious intent from easily guessing or cracking them. That is why you must select a password that contains letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Choosing a safe password that contains all these elements could prove to be a bit of a pain. If you have problems selecting properly strong passwords, there is one thing you can do – you can turn to software for help. An application that can help in this situation is the Camtech 2000. This application will easily and rapidly create passwords up to 50 characters long. In creating these passwords the application will use numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters, special characters and even extended characters (like ¢¥§©€"®).
Before you go get PassGen and put it to the test, take a glance at these technical details:
Download – the download weigh in at some 1.3MB. At such a lightweight download size, it will take but a moment to get PassGen off the web and onto your computer.
Installation – according to the application’s developer, at the time of writing this, PassGen provides support for Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000, and XP.
Limitations – saving and copying are disabled in the trial version.
PassGen is an application that creates properly strong, up to 50 characters long passwords.
